Northern
Louisiana is characterized by a quiet Southern grace
and a love of the outdoors. But the northern part of
the state also has a long history and important place
in the early colony of Louisiana.
You’ll find the historic town of Natchitoches.
One of the oldest settlements in the original colony,
it is a center of Creole architecture. The gracefully
preserved historic district is emblematic of the South’s
beauty and charm.
Just north of Natchitoches, enjoy the sights of fields,
pine tree forests, and lakes that make the region the
“Sportsman’s Paradise.” Fishing and
hunting are extremely popular, as are gardening, birdwatching,
sailing and canoeing. The mild climate is perfect for
outdoor recreation at some of the finest golf courses
in the state. |
Bordering
Texas and Arkansas, the people’s customs and traditions
stretch beyond those of South Louisiana. In Shreveport-Bossier
City, dockside riverboat gaming and thoroughbred horse
racing offer fast-paced action with Southern hospitality.
A true sportsman’s paradise, the community is
surrounded by tranquil lakes well suited for water skiers,
boaters and swimmers.
Take a ride on the Red River for a river cruise exploring
the history and livelihood of our community and nature
of the river. Stroll the tranquil gardens of the area.
You’ll find our music and nightlife even more
exciting with country, blues, jazz, gospel and our history
of rockabilly. Outstanding cuisine, ranging from Texas
barbecue to Louisiana favorites, make your stay delightful.
